What this blog is about in the first place

Hello World! This is a blog about my need for adventures and how a poor girl like me can have adventure on a budget.  It is directed towards everyone who has sat in front of the TV and watched the Travel Channel or something equivalent and thought to themselves, “I want to do that, too.” Well I said that and then forced myself to follow through, just not on as grand of a scale. Also, for all the hopeless romantics out there, it is also about how travel helped me discover my passion for people and how I was able to find romance along the way. So here is how it all began:
I recently graduated from college and moved back in with my fantastically, patient parents. Lounging around watching TV all day was great, but it didn’t take long to realize I was becoming a slug, which was not normally like me. I realized that being at home again was incredibly boring and I found myself becoming antsy during my down time of searching for the “perfect job.”  Side Note:  I have always imagined that I wanted to be like Sandra Bullock in “While You Were Sleeping” and have a passport ready for the instant when I just wanted to board a plane and fly to Paris or Venice. (Not really the part about working in a subway station and saving the man I thought I loved from an on-coming train.)So I started to plan all these big, extravagant trips to all these neat, foreign places that I wanted to visit… then it happened.  I realized I’m 1. poor, 2. recently graduated/ unemployed, 3. living with my parents, and 4. in desperate need of a reality check. So I decided to scale back and start dreaming a little smaller.
Due to sheer boredom I found myself wandering around downtown Lancaster one afternoon in June, where I was kind of looking for a job/ kind of just seeing what the people were like/ trying to get some sort of a tan. (This also convinced my parents that I was ‘actively’ searching for employment, which bought me more time enjoying unemployment. Clever, I know.)  Anyways, I found myself really enjoying meeting all the shop owners and talking to the people out frolicking around town. I realized then that I had a passion for exploring and meeting new people that I never knew about myself before. I also found my secret passion and full-blown love affair for having conversations with little, old people. (< You’ll learn more about this little nugget of information throughout my adventures.)
This little exploration around my hometown then led to wanting to explore other places around Ohio, but I knew I had a budget of just about zero. So I decided to search for interesting places to visit that cost minimal funds, which has now become a hobby as I am a VERY cheap person. Now that I had the idea in place I realized that I would be spending a lot of time in the car and road trips are just more fun with another person. So my mission became to find an adventuring buddy. Introducing Caleb: Caleb and I met one evening at my school through mutual friends and a shared glass of Bubble Vodka and Sprite.  Subsequently that night was a little fuzzy, but some where along the lines we exchanged names and therefore it was destined that we become Facebook friends. We kept in touch and through the wonders of the interwebs and Facebook Chat and eventually discovered something very vital that he had in common with myself; the hatred for the boredom associated with the mundane everyday routine. So now that I had my adventuring buddy I was set to see Ohio.
